Topical Academy - Evaluation/Appraisal
Naples, Florida– June 23–25, 2004
Who:
Superintendents are encouraged to attend with the key district leaders responsible for creating an evaluation or appraisal system in the district. The two Topical Academies run back-to-back, and the content of each is designed to complement the content of the other. A district might choose to send a single team for the whole week or a different team to each Academy, intending to synthesize their work when they are together back in the district.
Experience:
This is a challenging topic, one that requires a clear set of beliefs and sharp focus on the work provided to students. This Academy will be designed around issues of accountability for accomplishing the core business of the school district, from both individual and systemic perspectives, and will emphasize building on individuals' strengths rather than correcting their deficits. Through this experience, teams will develop a plan to launch work back in the district to create a new evaluation/appraisal system. Opportunities for refinement of previous work and analysis of results will be provided for district teams that attended in 2003, if they choose to attend again in 2004.
